OTTOXLIGHT SYSTEMS for multichannel applications
OTTOXLIGHT-SYSTEM is our new concept of modular acquisition system. In the configuration presented here it is composed by one OttoXLight-SWITCH1x4 externally connected to its master module OttoXLight-USB FBG Interrogator.
This system can address up to 16 FBG sensors on its 4 lines, but options with up to 16 channels are available.
The system comes with a laptop PC as a control unit, with application software pre-installed, communicating with the master interrogator via USB.
The two modules are electrically connected on the rear panel: the master unit supplies the necessary electrical power and driving signal to the slave unit;
the optical connection with a F3000/F3000 angled patchcord on the front panel allows to address towards the sensors, through the optical switch, the power of the broadband source integrated in the interrogator.
The switching time and the scannining channel sequence are programmable via the above mentionend configuration utility.
The main benefits of this equipment are:
- high flexibility of use thanks to the configuration utility included in the application software
- portability, thanks to the very compact size (81 x 43 x 126 mm) and weight (only 320g each) of the modules
- modularity: the master interrogator unit is compatible with all our slave switch units, whatever is the channel count (2 to 16)
This solution can include a complete Sensors Set specifically packaged for the installation requirements.
OTTOXLIGHT-SW12 probably the smallest multichannel FBG interrogation system ever!.
This model features a 12 channels integrated switch (available up to 16), embedded optical source and USB interface in only 220x160-51mm!
The system comes with a laptop PC as a control unit, with application software and configuration utility pre-installed.
Switching time, scannining channel sequence and acquisition parameters are all programmable via the above mentionend configuration utility.
Angled E2000 or F3000 are the standard optical connectors. Different options upon request.

OttoXLight-SHM for Civil Structural Health Monitoring
OttoXLight-SHM is a system designed for Civil Structural Health Monitoring, based on simultaneous acquisition through two OttoXLight-USB FBG Interrogator modules.
It's capable to address 20 FBG sensors on 5 lines: one is managed by an interrogation module dedicated to "fast" acquisition for vibration measurements, four are managed by the other module through an OttoXLight-SWITCH1x4 board, internally connected to its master module; these lines are dedicated to "slow" parameters like strain, temperature, displacement...
The embedded PC offers all the advantages of a pre-loaded application software and accessibility through all the usual PC peripherals, including Ethernet. This allows remote data storage on a user selected FTP server.
The Sensors Set completing the SHM solution include:
- Four vibration sensors on stainless steel wall mount
- Four long gauge displacement sensors for integral measurement on an over 3m distance
- Six wall mount strain gauges
- Six wall mount temperature sensors for accurate strain/temperature compensation
